How hard is it to find the longstay car park for terminal 5 at heathrow airport?
Going to new york in sep and was thinking of driving myself there rather than getting a cab,never having driven up there myself is it easy to find the longstay car park for terminal 5 when you get there? many thanks.Chris
It is easy to get to and is close to some of the other long stays car parks on the (western) perimeter road. There’s a map on the heathrow airport website.
The airport’s own longstay car parks are the most expensive around.
I’d personally consider the off site alternatives such as Purple parking

Why don’t Heathrow Airport allow taxi drivers 20 mins free parking in car park?
Today a sad day. Passengers suddenly finding choice available USE ADDISON LEE expensive or pay PARKING CHARGES. Cabs are being fined if they stop to pick their pre booked passengers. Its bad in Terminal 5 the terminal is used for business people, often with no baggage normally we zoom in open the door collect and pull out. Now they say we have to pay car park. Why not allow us 20 mins free parking to get our passengers. Why money, money such a greed
Why do you need 20 mins parking if you are just picking up or dropping off? Perhaps they are trying to clear the traffic from the entrances and exits.
Parking at heathrow T 5?

Is there such as a free parking or really cheap parking near terminal 5, i need to leave my car for about 5 hours, can i park it somewhere and catch the tube to T 5

How easy is it to pick someone up from terminal 5 at heathrow airport?
I want to pick a friend up from the airport at T5, is there parking? and is it signposted? I want to meet them at the arrivals gates.
Heathrow is worse then Boston during the construction, or New york anytime.
At most airports its easier for a person coming in to get around the airport then a driver getting around. And with most airports there is one terminal that is the easiest. There are trains, or buses that take people from terminal to terminal, or parking lots. The best way is to park, and go to the baggage claim and meet your friend. Since 9/11, no one can go to the gate anymore unless they have a ticket. It may take a good hour but it is the easiest way.

Heathrow Airport; Ideal Hub For Travel Around Britain
Heathrow airport began its life as a small military airfield during the First World War, after this original period it never saw active service as an RAF airport and can trace its heritage almost solely as a commercial airport.
Strangely the layout has found itself limited by the centrally located terminals, due to the fact that airport planners originally thought passengers would be arriving in chauffeur driven cars. Heathrow is currently building a large new terminal christened somewhat boringly as Terminal 5. It is set to open in March 2008 and will have the usual accompanying travel links as car hire desks, bus stops and its own train station. Predominantly, the eventual aim is for the terminal to house the majority of British Airways flights, ultimately making the terminal solely BA focussed.
The terminal is expected to cost the princely sum of 4.2 billion pounds but airport bosses will be clinging to the hope that it comes in under budget and on schedule. The new terminal will also have to cater for the gargantuan Airbus A380 with special concourses and docking facilities.
One thing is certain; with a host of businesses in fields such as retail, hospitality and car hire the chances for profit will be immense. Even the world renowned shops Cartier and Harrods are looking into creating outlets in the terminal to provide premier shopping for more privileged passengers.
The future of Heathrow Airport is not completely sparkling though; it is believed that the two operating runways are currently running at ninety eight percent capacity meaning even with the new Terminal, flight slots will still be in high demand.
Its mantle as the airport with the most international passengers is believed to be surpassed by France’s Charles De Gaulle Airport by the year 2010, as it is only currently operating at seventy four percent capacity. Of course the new generation of larger airplanes will ease the strain but Heathrow must still consider another runway if they hope to remain as profitable.
