PostHeaderIcon are there any streets near the university of liverpool to park on for free?

apparently there are no permits available so i could do with knowing any nearby streets to park on.

cheers :) yes true indeed haha but what i was looking for is if anyone knew any streets in particular :)
Your car is as safe in Liverpool as in any other city. I’ve just got home from Liverpool a few hours ago. I’m there every month, sometimes twice a month. It’s a great place.

Forget the rumours and bad press. Liverpool is officially the 5th safest city in UK according to the current police crime records. It’s a friendly city, very cosmopolitan, and a great choice for a student who wants a lot of distractions, which Liverpool has in abundance, but therefore not great for actually getting some studying done without a bit of self discipline, which is true of many other cities in UK.
However Liverpool street space is as bad as any other city too, and around the Unis (there are three of them, each with a number of campuses) you’ll be looking a long time for a decent bit of free parking.
The University of Liverpool is mostly centred around the very busy Mount Pleasant area not far from Lime Street Station.
The School of Tropical Medicine, the Dental Health Hospital, The medical and biology faculties, Chemistry and Physics are all within a few minutes walk.
The National Express coaches from Birmingham and London use that route into Norton Street Bus Station from Warrington and Edge Hill. We were ages getting through it as usual yesterday evening. Solid with traffic.
Then we waited for our delayed Isle of Man ferry to arrive and I got home at 1am instead of 11pm after a rough crossing.
The good news is that beer is cheaper in Liverpool than in most of UK, the nightlife is fantastic and the Liverpool ladies have their own style of (almost non) dress for going out, which makes even street watching a very enjoyable experience.
It’s even more buzzing than when I wrote this

Parking though isn’t enjoyable at all and uphill from Lime Street it’s basically a nightmare but with an occasional bit of serendipity thrown in just to get a smile.
Liverpool people do a lot of smiling. It’s a happy city, and it’s growing fast economically with new developments almost everywhere.
Except for free parking spaces in convenient places. Just like anywhere else these days.
There are some back lanes off many of the streets in the area, and some don’t have yellow paint all over them. The office workers get them filled quite early in the morning but it’s worth a walk around when you get there to find them and you might get a fairly permanent spot if you keep the car in it all day so nobody else gets it.
In the evenings the revellers tend to use taxis and night buses rather than risk driving into town. There are night buses to almost every part of Liverpool and taxis are cheaper than in most of UK so getting back home or to digs or the student flats isn’t a great problem.
Have fun there. Liverpool is great.

PostHeaderIcon How to get to Alderbury of Salisbury, the U.K. from Cambridge university and back to london heathrow airport?

I’m not good at directions&want to make fewer interchanges. I’ve 2 luggages to carry with.
(1) How to get to Alderbury of Salisbury, U.K. from Cambridge university ?
Cambridge-(by First Capital Connect Train)-Kings Cross–(by Underground)-London Waterloo–(by Southwest Train) –Salisbury
or Cambridge(Madingley Rd P&R)"–(by National Express-(by bus No.JL717))-interchange at "London, Heathrow airport, Central bus station" , take another bus No. SH032 -"Salisbury,Endless Street bus station, Wiltshire".
(2) From Salisbury to London Heathrow airport?
(a)Salisbury–(by Southwest Train)-LondonWaterloo train station–interchange at london waterloo tube–London–Green Park tube (by Jubliee line)-interchange at Green Park–(by Piccadilly line)-London heathrow Airport
(b)By train:
Salisbury–(by Train)–Waterloo train station–find Paddington train station(I don’tknowwhere)–(by Heathrow Express)-Lond.heathr.Airp.
(c)Salisbury-(By NationalExpress.)–Lond.Heath.airport.
Any idea?
Someone told me to go by "National Express", is it a good way?
Is the luggage storage place located outside the bus above the wheels?,
When i get off the coach, will the driver remember to open the luggage storage cover for me to take back my luggage -(if i get off the bus, i am afraid the driver will drive away because not every passengers has luggages.)-(maybe I sit far away from the driver, i cannot talk to him at the moment i get off the coach at another door to remind him to let me take back my belongings first. (i assume that one would get off the coach at another door.)
Please forgive me for my silly questions, for i’ve never gone by coach in the uk.
In past travelling experience in package tour, the luggage storage place is located outside the travel coach.
Thanks

Hire a car. Probably be cheaper and less hassle.
If you are unsure of anything just ask the guy at the train station and there are information points at all the mainline stations.
