How to get from central London to Heathrow, cheaply?
I’m flying to Italy on July 4, and my flight leaves Heathrow at 6:50 a.m. I’m staying at a hotel in Bayswater, north of Hyde Park.
Does anyone from London have any tips on how to get to the airport? The tube is out, since I’d like to be there 2 hours ahead of time, and it doesn’t start running until 5 a.m. Taxis are expensive. In the states there are cheap van shuttles that will pick you up and take you to the airport — anything like that in the U.K.?
hotelhoppa and hotelink don’t start early enough for you. Neither does the Heathrow Express.
You can do it by 2 buses
N52 to Notting Hill Gate
N9 to Heathrow
Should take about 1 hour 30 minutes.
Taxi or tube from Heathrow to Hyde Park Ramada?
Looking for advice on how to get from Heathrow to Hyde Park Ramada. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle or the approx. cost of a taxi? Tube? Bus? First time to London - can’t wait!
I would take the Heathrow Express.
When you arrive at the airport, just follow the signs for Public Transportation.. there will be signs for the tube and for the Express. The Express takes you into the center of London in about 15 minutes.. its direct, no stops.
You arrive at Paddington Train Station. And from there you can either:
walk outside and take a short cab ride to your hotel, if you have alot of luggage.
OR, if you can handle your luggage– follow the signs to the Underground — which will take you to the Paddington TUBE Station. From there, take the District/Central tube line to the Notting Hill station (which is very close, it should be the very first stop)
- And also to note– I definitely recommend you use the Tube alot while you’re in London. Its verry efficient. And buy an Oyster card right away (they come in different daily increments).. it is "pre-paying" and allows you unlimited use on those days.
Check out the links below. The second one has a great feature– Journey Planner. You can enter in your destinations and it will tell you the different options for getting there, how long it’ll take, if there will be stairs, etc….
Have a great time in London.. i love it there. I fell in love w/ that city. My first trip was March 2005.. and then I went back June/July 2005, November 2005 and then again.. Sept 2006. I’m kinda addicted and am missing it!!
