what is the law regarding receiving a parket ticket for parking on a gararge forecourt?
I parked in a BP garage forecourt at Gatwick Airport and notices indicated that i could park for 20 minutes free and would then recive a PCN for £150 (£75 if paid within 14 days) This ticket was issued by an outfit called Civil Enforcement Limited, whose web address of ce-services.co.uk does not seem to work. I question the right of this company to levy this exorbitant charge without any appeals procedure and I should like to be appraised of the law regarding this "offenc."
If you don’t want to pay the fee, then don’t park there! You obviously did see the notices, and parked there anyway, so what’s your complaint?
Where is the best place to WAIT to pick up a passenger from London Gatwick Airport?
Hello, where can a wait to pick up a passenger from LGW - North terminal I believe. I know airports have parking restrictions so all advice gladly received. Ta
Greenric, that’s fantastic. Can you tell me what road the McDonalds is on?
The short term car park, or if you are in contact by phone with the passengers, then wait at the Mcdonalds which is 3 minutes away. Then drive to the ‘pick up/set down’ zone when they are out of the terminal.
The Mcdonalds is on the Ring Road North - there is also a BP garage right next to it.
I got a parking ticket at BP North term gatwick, has anyone recieved the same ?
Is anyone fighting the issuing of these parking tickets?
A BP Garage is private property - regular traffic wardens are not going to ticket you unless the owners called them. It sounds like you parked your car in there for too long & someone noticed.
There should be a sign up near the parking area which will state the maximum waiting time and the penalties for overstaying your welcome. It’s likely to be an hour or two. Obviously if you were there for less than the time stated then that’s how you fight the ticket.
If you parked your car there and went off to pick someone up from Arrivals than you will have exceeded the maximum waiting time. In that case you write an angry letter to the most senior person at BP and tell him how disgraceful it is that a loyal customer is being mistreated by his staff with no warning, etc, etc. The Chief Exec is John Browne, you will be able to get his address from the BP web site. Technically the Service Stations are concessions which are not directly owned by BP but if you are convincing enough and they have never ticketed you before you should be able to get them to cancel it.
