Do Liverpool have the best defence in the league now?
We are not parking the bus, but we managed to concede only 2 goals in the last 7 games. The zonal marking system seems to be working now. Since Johnson got injured, Carragher has been doing great as a Right Back. Just that we need to sharpen the attack now.
Chelsea have a good defence too.
@ Alex….. thanx for the laugh…. they do need a better attack now.
Just a point of interest - Liverpool concede far fewer goals when Johnson is not around. Johnson is fantastic at getting forward - very tricky with a good delivery and a decent shot on him, but rather hopeless in his positioning which has cost Liverpool and England dear at times.
Liverpool’s defence functioned better with a much more defensive Arbeloa, whose defensive effectiveness allowed your two defensive midfielders to remain much more central, particularly Alonso, allowing them to dictate the play more effectively than when Johnson is constantly bombing forward without getting back. Alonso was a huge loss, but I think that the loss of Arbeloa has upset the team’s balance more profoundly. Now that you have a more defensive player at right back again, suddenly your defence is shipping fewer goals.

ppppffffft no they hav crap defenders

Yes, Liverpool have been doing well at parking the bus lately. Just like at City, exceptional bus parking there, from both teams.
Chelsea’s defense are only good at filling each others holes, thats why there so good.

until ashley cole and/or jose bosingwa come back, you certainly do.
but the machine should be back by next week

i wouldnt say liverpool hav the strongest defence in the league, although they r goin through a good spell but im sure the zonal marking system will fail soon. i recogn u r conceeding less goals as johnson aint avaliable, it allows you to play carragher right back with 2 other centre backs.
if every team has a fully fit squad with every player at the top of his form i think their aint much difference beween the top 4s defence.

LMAO. What is the point of having the best defence when you have nothing to defend. All your goals are lucky shots.

hahahah no they dont. if i had to say the best defense right now, it would have to be chelsea or everton. evertons last 3 games against the big four saw a tie with arsenal, and a win against chelsea and manu. pretty much beasts.

You can’t claim they have the best defence, okay on current form they have a good defensive record but no way does that mean they have the best defence in the league and it does provide foundation for the team

lol @ " the zonal marking system seems to be working now "
no shit lmao
however, I must remind you that we’ve also had our fair share of luck - which other sides had.
Chelsea have an almost unbreachable defence, anything aerial-threat wise posed at them is dealt with swift ease.
Arsenal found that out the hard way, when Mr.Fabregas and Company had a miserable night trying to thread balls into the box from wide positions , at head level.
how baby arshavin was going to leap over Terry and co is beyond my understanding.
as for us, wait till next season.
Johnson is at the right club for him to fulfill his potential (which lets face it, he has lots of. )
he will be England’s #1 choice Right back in Euro 2012 and world cup 2014.
remember Carra’s initial position use to be RB.
