PostHeaderIcon Where is the best place to WAIT to pick up a passenger from London Gatwick Airport?

Hello, where can a wait to pick up a passenger from LGW - North terminal I believe. I know airports have parking restrictions so all advice gladly received. Ta
Greenric, that’s fantastic. Can you tell me what road the McDonalds is on?

The short term car park, or if you are in contact by phone with the passengers, then wait at the Mcdonalds which is 3 minutes away. Then drive to the ‘pick up/set down’ zone when they are out of the terminal.

The Mcdonalds is on the Ring Road North - there is also a BP garage right next to it.

Yes, you’re quite right - there is no longer any waiting area at LGW. You either have to pay to park in the short term car park (it’s right next to the airport so no distance to walk) or else there’s a huge Tesco’s Superstore near there, which is a useful hovering point!

yes greenrichmond has the right idea … I’ve never had to pick up at Gatwick, but at Heathrow I find a nearby supermarket with a cafe (e.g. Tesco or Sainsburys), park up, have a coffee, and wait for the person I’m collecting to ring me when they get to baggage reclaim

for instance theres a Tesco Extra at Gatwick … look on http://www.tesco.com/storelocator/ … REIGATE ROAD, HORLEY, SURREY, RH6 0AT

Good advice already, but worth checking flight arrivals first. Allow about an hour for clearance.

You will need to park in the short term car park. At the pick-up/drop-off point you aren’t allowed to hang around and they will move you on.
