I’m confused about park names in Liverpool. Can anyone help?
Me and my boyfriend are having a little ongoing argument about park names in Liverpool.
I maintain that the park by Edge Lane that borders Botanic Road is known as Botanic Park or Edge Lane park. My boyfriand says it’s called Wavertree Park but if that’s so, then what is the big park in Wavertree with the sports centre called? I always thought that was Wavertree park.
Any help please?
I thought that one was called Botanic Park whilst the other was known as Wavertree park, however they both have similar names.
The park off Edge lane is called Wavertree Botanic gardens and used to have a massive greenhouse housing William Roscoe’s Botanic collection until they were destroyed in the 2nd world war.
The other park up in Wavertree (known as the Mystery) is called Wavertree playground, and for some reason does not appear on the councils own list of parks.

According to LiverpoolA-Z, Edge Lane = Wavertree Park, of which the Botanical Gardens are part of. Big park in Wavertree with sports centre and fabulous new olympic sized swimming pool is called Wavertree Playground.
Ongoing argument solved, now get the bf & go for a walk in Calderstones or Sefton.
